FBCS Guide To FBCS
Partnership Meetings - These required meetings are a chance to meet with Mrs. Thompson to hear about the upcoming school year and have any questions answered. Please pick a date from those listed on the home page and call Amber Warren at the school or email her at reception@fbcskennesaw.com to RSVP.
Late for Traffic - These days are authorized by the admin staff when there is a publicized accident in the local Kennesaw Area. These are determined at the staff's discretion
Family Fun Day – Come get to know other families and staff at this beginning of the
year event. Jump on fun inflatables, enjoy chalk art and food offered for sale by the fifth graders.
Early Release Days – these days occur periodically through out the year. Unless other wise noted, the
scheduled release time is: preschool release as usual, Kindergarten at 11:30, and elementary at 12:30.
Elementary Chapel – Monday mornings k5 – 1st grade at 8:45 am – 2nd – 5th grade 9:30 am. Parents are
always welcome to join their children to hear our message and listen to our chapel praise team.
Grandparent's Day– This is an event hosted in the school each year. Students are asked to bring a Grandparent or Granperson to school with them to enjoy some time both in the classroom and in the school.
Book Fair – Twice per year, the school provides an opportunity for Scholastic Warehouse to bring their books to you.
In the fall book fair students are offered a chance to fill-out wish lists of items they would enjoy reading while teachers
are also able to fill out wishes for books they would like to have in their classroom. The second book fair is offered in
the late spring as an opportunity to purchase summer reading books for students at ½ off the cover price of all items.
Elementary Parent Conferences – This is also known as early release week where teachers will set
appointments up with parents to go over your child’s progress. These conference occur twice during the school year.
But always feel free to email your child’s teacher with any questions that come up in the mean time.
Christmas Shop –Elementary and preschool children are offered an opportunity to shop for their family for low
priced gifts that are then wrapped and gift tagged to take home.
Student Treasures – Elementary students write their own books to be published. Parents may buy extra copies
for themselves or others.
Christmas Chapel – Join our chapel praise team and students as we celebrate the blessed birth of Jesus.
Jump Rope for Heart – Students are given the opportunity to raise money for the American Heart Association
while exercising their heart muscle by jumping rope.
Big Shanty Parade – Big Shanty Days is an event held in downtown Kennesaw each year in April. The school
is always represented in the parade and students and their parents are welcome to join us.
Spanish All Day – This elementary event if held each year. Every class is given a certain country to learn about
to share with others. Different foods from that country are then served to everyone who would like to participate.
How to RAISE FUNDS while having FUN- There are many opportunities to raise funds while out in the market place - some of those are: Box tops for education - cut those box tops and send in to your child's teacher. AUTHORIZATION TO GIVE MEDICATION-All students requiring medication while at school must have the Permission to give Medication at School form. You may get this form by clicking on the link above. Please complete the form and give the medication and the form to Pam Biddy. Students are not allowed to bring in any medication, cough drops, creams or sprays without the permission form.
FAQ'S
1. What is the approximate class size at FBCS? The maximum that we allow per elementary class room is 18. The maximum that we allow per preschool classroom is from 10 – 15 depending on age group.
2. How many total students are at FBCS? We currently have approximately 265 students enrolled for the 2006-2007
school year.
3. Do you have a dress code or uniform? Yes, FBCS has a uniform that consists of Golf shirts come in long sleeve or short sleeve. Shoes will follow our school rule: please, no pictures, lights, sandals, cowboy boots, or saddle oxfords. Belts must be worn with loops. If you buy a sweater or vest or sweatshirt to be worn inside the building, they must be the same colors as found at the Uniform Depot and please, no pictures. Jackets and sweaters for outside only are your choice. * Friday is casual day. Students can wear T-Shirts (no logos), fingertip length shorts, skorts, dresses, Capri pants, and crop pants. Tops need to be to the edge of the shoulder, with no skin showing the student’s mid –section. No tight pants. *Wednesday is P.E. day - that uniform consists of red, loose sweatshirt or T-shirt and navy
sweatpants or long, loose shorts found at Uniform Depot or other clothing store. Please No pictures on book bags, lunch boxes, shoes or clothing. Colors should be consistent with uniform colors.
4. Where do I get my child’s uniform? Uniforms may be purchased at the Uniform Depot, 2141 Cobb Parkway, in Kennesaw, GA. www.uniformdepot.com . See the new uniform policy on the home page for more information.
5. How may parents be involved? Parents are always welcome and encouraged to be a part of their child’s day at FBCS. We have a very active PTF, hosting events such as Christmas Shop, Sally Foster Sales, Scholastic book fairs and other events for the entire family.
6. What are class hours? Kindergarten Connection, 1st – 5th grade classes car line starts at 8:15 with all children settled in their classrooms by 8:30 – their day ends with carline from 3:00- 3:15 pm. K5 carline runs from is included in the elementary carline at 8:15, their day ends at 12:00. 4 year old class carline runs from 8:35 – 8:45 am and ends with carline at 12:00 pm. 2’s, and 3’s carline is from 98:45 until 9:00 and their day ends at 11:45 – 12:00 carline.
7. Is your School Accredited? Yes, FBCS was granted Accreditation by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) in the summer of 2006.
8. Is the church doctrine taught in the classroom? FBCS is made up of many students and staff members with differing religious denominations but knowing we all serve the same God. In that way, Biblical truth, not our differences in doctrinal thinking are taught in the classroom,
9. Are lunches provided? Yes, we have contracted with a catering company that provides hot lunch for our students every day. The lunches need to be prepaid and ordered by the due date issued in the calendar.
10. What is FACTS? FACTS is our tuition management company that serves over 3,500 schools, colleges and universities, and more than 650,000 families. Our tuition management system makes use of the latest in electronic funds processing through banks, credit cards, and a well-administered invoice service to collect tuition payments
for our clients.
