General Information for Grades 2 - 6
1. A “Daily Folder” will be sent home each day with your child. It is the navy “Communicator” for communication between the teacher and the parent. In it, you will find a monthly discipline calendar that will be updated daily and must be initialed daily by parent. The numbers on a particular date are character traits that have been noticed as positive behavior. The letters will be rules that were challenges for that day. These directly relate to the traits on the report card. The character traits and rules will be in the back pocket of the Communicator. Specials will send a separate behavior sheet. See the red, yellow and green system in the in the Parent-Student Handbook.
2. Each morning the students will record their homework and the teacher will initial it as correct. After your child has completed all assignments, please initial that you know your child completed all assignments. The assignment still has to be turned in to count for a grade.
3. Homework is intended for review and reinforcement of class work. The responsibility for turning in homework is a part of self-control on the report card. Each child begins with a “100” grade in responsibility that will be added to the self-control category of the report card. Each homework assignment that is late incurs a one-point decrease in the responsibility grade.
4. A “Friday folder” will be sent home each Friday. It will contain graded papers for the first four days of the week, unless it is a larger paper or project. Grades taken on Friday will be sent home in the next Friday folder. This work must be completed over the weekend. Please sign the attached sheet and return the folder and the papers on Monday. These papers will be held until the end of the grading period and then sent home to you after the report card is returned and signed. Additional grading information is in the Parent-Student Handbook.
5. Please include a healthy snack in your child’s lunch each day. Also, wash, fill and return a water bottle each day. You may use throw away bottles with pop-top to preschool only if you prefer. See handbook for healthy snacks.
6. Other information that appears on the grade level page is the list and times of regularly scheduled tests. Holidays will make changes in the schedule. Computer, PE, Music, Spanish, Library and Chapel will appear, also. The weekly Bible verse and other information on projects, special events and field trips. The web will be updated each Friday. Please check the web each weekend.
